Hello all.
I always prefer most cost-effective way to reach Ashram from city so that more money can be splurged on shopping in the beautiful shops in Ashram like Madhurya, Divine Services, Sattva Store, Vishala Cafe.
I will first write about train travel and then I will write about airport travel.
A] If you are traveling by Train:
There are 3 main stations in Bangalore, namely KSR Bengaluru (also known as Majestic or Kempegowda Station or Bangalore City Junction), Yeshvanthpur Junction and Krishnarajapuram.
a] Arriving from KSR Bengaluru Railway Station:-
1] Traveling by Bus:
1) Come out of Bangalore station.
2) Walk straight (2 minutes) to Kempegowda Bus Station (KBS), also called as Majestic Bus Station.
3) Go to Bus stop number 11 at the Kempegowda Bus Station.
4) Ask the buses coming on bus stop 11 whether they go to Banashankari. If yes, get into the bus. Don’t bother about route numbers.
5) Take a ticket for Banashankari.
6) Watch the beautiful gardens that come on every corner of every road.
7) Get down at Banashankari.
8) Take Bus number 211 from Banashankari. No need to go inside Banashankari building. Bus 211 comes outside the building.
9) Alternatively, there are many private buses which are beautifully decorated and playing loud Kannada movies standing opposite Banashankari building. The driver will be calling people by saying ‘Kanakpura Road Kanakpura Road’. Get into the bus.
10) Feel the beautiful positive vibrations that start when you come in 3 km proximity of Ashram.
11) Get down at ‘Ashram Bus Stop’.
2] Traveling by Metro:
1) Come out of Bangalore station.
2) Kempegowda Metro station is a 5 minute walk from railway station.
3) There are 2 lines in Bangalore Metro; Green Line and Purple Line. We will travel by Green Line.
4) Take ticket for Silk Institute Metro Station. This is the last station on Green Line. Ticket will be around Rs. 40. This journey will take 33 minutes.
5) Get down at Silk Institute Metro Station. Come out of station.
6) Now Ashram is only 3 kilometers away. You can book Ola Auto or take the public bus .
7) Welcome Home.
b] Arriving from Yeshvanthpur Junction Railway Station:
1) Come out of Yeshvanthpur Railway Station.
2) Yeshvanthpur Metro station is right opposite the railway station.
3) Take ticket for Silk Institute Metro station. This is the last Metro station on Green line. This journey will take 41 minutes.
4) Get down at Silk Institute Metro Station. Come out of station.
5) Now Ashram is only 3 kilometers away. You can book Ola Auto or take the public bus.
6) Welcome Home.
c] Arriving from Whitefield Railway Station:
1) Come out of Whitefield Railway Station.
2) Get down at Kempegowda Metro Station. Take escalator and go to Green Line platform.
3) Take ticket for Silk Institute Metro Station. This is the last station on Green Line. Ticket will be around Rs. 40. This journey will take 33 minutes.
4) Get down at Silk Institute Metro Station. Come out of station.
5) Now Ashram is only 3 kilometers away. You can book Ola Auto or take the public bus.
6) Welcome Home.
B] If you are arriving by Flight:
Bangalore is well connected by flights from all over India and abroad. The airport name is Kempegowda International Airport and short form is KIAL.
1) Traveling by Bus:
1) Come out of Bangalore Airport.
2) Take right and walk for 1 and half minute. Go to BMTC Bus Stand.
3) There are 2 buses you can take, KIA-5D or KIA-5. They are fully AC buses and has lot of space to keep your luggage.
4) Bus number KIA-5D goes directly to Art of Living Ashram. The travel duration is 2 hours.
5) If you don’t get KIA-5D, take Bus number KIA-5 which goes to Banashankari. Take ticket to the last stop Banashankari. The travel time will be 2 hours. Enjoy the view of hundreds of gardens in Bangalore city. Get down at last stop Banashankari. Take Bus number 211 from Banshankari. No need to go inside Banshankari bus station building. Bus 211 comes outside the building. Alternatively, there are many private buses which are beautifully decorated and playing loud Kannada songs standing opposite Banshankari building. The driver will be calling people by saying ‘Kanakpura Road Kanakpura Road’. Get into the bus.This journey will take half hour.
6) Feel the beautiful positive vibrations that start when you come in 3 km proximity of Ashram.
7) Get down at ‘Ashram Bus Stop’. Welcome Home.
2) Traveling by Metro:
1) The nearest metro station to Bangalore Airport is the Sandal Soap Factory Metro Station. From airport, you can book Ola cab till here. It will take 45 minutes.
2) Or you can get into any BMTC Vayu Vajra bus from airport and get down at Mekhri Circle. Take bus or auto to Sandal Soap Factory metro station. It is just 5 kilometers from Mekhri Circle.
3) From Sandal Soap factory metro station, take ticket to Silk Institute Metro Station. This journey will take 40 minutes.
4) Get down at Silk Institute Metro Station. Come out of station.
5) Now Ashram is only 3 kilometers away. You can book Ola Auto or take the public bus.
6) Welcome Home.
3) Traveling by Train from airport (Yes, it exists!):
1) This is the cheapest form of transport. In 2021, a railway station has been inaugurated near to Bangalore airport. It is called Kempegowda International Airport Devanahalli (KIAD) railway station. It is 3.5 kilometers from airport. From airport, free shuttle service is available to the station.
2) There are very few trains as of now with limited frequency. Trains depart to various parts of city like Kempegowda Station, Yeshvanthpur, Yelahanka and Bengaluru Cantonment. The timetable can be found at

Note: I have mentioned only the cheapest ways to travel to Ashram. If you wish to save time, you can book direct Ola or Uber cabs to “Art of Living Kanakapura Road”. Ashram is just 21 kilomteres from Bangalore City station.
